DESCRIPTION

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterised by unrealistic behaviour dominated by private fantasy. It is a lifelong illness with recurrent acute attacks.

It commonly, though not always, occurs in late adolescence or early adulthood in a withdrawn, seclusive type of person.

Among its basic symptoms are faulty thought processes, bizarre actions, tendency to live in an inner world, and an incapacity to maintain normal interpersonal relationships.
