Food Allergy

DESCRIPTION

A hypersensitive reaction to specific foods, this type of Allergy affects only certain individuals in circumstances that might be innocuous to other people. The most common allergenic foods include chocolate, dairy products, eggs, strawberries, MSG and wheat.

It is believed that an individual who is hereditarily predisposed toward a food Allergy produces, when sensitised, special weak types of antibodies (reagins) that give little immune protection but cause local tissue damage during the antibody-antigen reaction.
